Curlew after the hurricane- but where have all the sails gone?
Thanks to Bob’s careful storm preparations in her hurricane hole on Stocking Island in the Bahamas, our yacht Curlew survived a direct hit from Hurricane Irene. Moving erratically through the south-east Bahamas over very warm waters, the hurricane quickly expanded. Irene then intensified into a full-blown Category 3 major hurricane as she recurved towards the northwest, heading for the US mainland. She was the first major hurricane of the 2011 season, and I hope the last to hit our boat.
